day 15: London calling

Today was spent in London. We left here early and caught a train. as soon as we arrived we went to the British museum. there we saw a lot of cool Egyptian mummies and i even got to see the Rosetta stone...it was pretty sweet. After our 1st museum we ate lunch at an AMAZING sandwich place across the street. i had a panini with mozzarella, asparagus and prechuto. it was wonderful. then we went to Starbucks and i ate a lemon poppy seed muffin for dessert... SO GOOD, i highly recommend it:)

after that good, memorable lunch, we moved on and went to the British Tate museum... not so great, i was disappointed, not to mention unbelievably tired! after the museum and few of us girls thought since it was only 5pm, we should take advantage of a nice, warm day in London, so we found some stuff to do.

We went and found piccadilly circus (which is the London time square) and we found such a great, very cute tea room that we ate dinner at. I had Earl Gray tea and it is by far the best pot of tea i have ever had! (today was a good food day), anyway, it was so good! and our waiter was so sweet and kind. after dinner, we went to Harrods (a very expensive and large department store). we took some pictures, admired the woman's bathroom, which by the way had real hand towels and someone assisting you... it was pretty cool:) anyway then we went back to oxford and i am tired! it was a pretty good day though.

so i realized the funniest thing today, i have been thinking and reading in a british accent... isnt that funny? i was reading a sign on the underground and i realized i was thinking in a british accent. i just thought that was soooo cool!

Hey Lady:

I hope you continue to have a great time even though I sense a little bit of homesickness in the old posts.

We had a Memorial Day bbq last night. It was awesome. Grandma made potato salad and of course a big dish of her sliced dills. We had hamburgers and hotdogs...I, as usual, ate 'til I popped. We also made a little happy b-day video for Anaiah...which mom and dad will mail next week and it probably won't be there on time. Go figure.

I like your painting of the church wall a lot. I think you really captured great movement in the trees. Detail is so understated in watercolors...it always makes me think everything is being blown away. It's definitely not my favorite...but I still believe it is a pretty nice medium.

Hopefully you can still make posts while you are in Italy and the other places. I can't wait to see some of your oils...I freaking love oil paints. They stay wet forever and you can make what your painting pop off the canvas like nothing else. If they'll let you, play around with contrasting canvas washes...it really makes a difference in things like the brilliance of the sky and water, etc.

Anyway, I will let you get some sleep...heck this probably made you a little more tired.

I Love You:

Drew.

I'm glad you didn't leave London without seeing Harrod's. Oh, did you see the tribute to Diana and Dodi Fyiad in Harrod's? Dodi Fyiad's father owns Harrods, so if Princess Diana had married Dodi, she would have had the perfect place--she also would have probably gotten more than a 25% family discount to boot!

Love,

Tracy
