Ethan Allen and Beyond!

Hey guys, some people were wanting to know what i have been doing at work the last month or so... well here is some of what i have been doing. I have been at Ethan Allen in Beaverton since the second week in July. I have been interning with the designers there on their consultations, in-store and in-home, and also helping with their presentations for their clients designs. My last day will be this friday... yay! I have loved the experiences i have had here and my co-workers have been wonderful, but it will also be nice to have a break before school starts again to get to see everybody for a little bit before i head back.

The full three weeks i have been working with one designer in particular, Gayle. Gayle is awesome and has been a good co-worker and friend for me around here. Gayle was commissioned to design a whole house at 4,000 sq. ft. she was a little overwhelmed and asked if i could design the 13 year old grand daughters bedroom by myself. she said she trusted me and to do the room how i thought it should be done and run it by her. so these pictures are of the room. how we do the DP's (design presentation's) around here is that we pick a showroom or empty space in the store and set up a sort of vinet or demonstration. we take the elements of the room such as colors, fabrics, furniture, accessories, art and bedding and set them up in a space to present. for the room i designed, we picked a bedroom set on the showroom floor that was similar to the 13 year olds bedroom currently and set it up there. it was so much fun to have the freedom to design for a real client. its one thing to get to do all that at school, but its a whole other thing to have actual clients critiquing you. after all was said and done, we sold it all, including my whole design. I was so happy and relived that they liked it all... maybe i am studying for the right profession. haha, i hope at least! :)

The red swatch on the ground is the red rug, it will be 8 ft round. the bedding is that quilt thats all different colors and the white shams, the apples will sit on a black shelf with hooks, the glass ball lamp will sit on the night stands, those ottomans will sit at the bottom of the bed and there are those big poppies for above the bed and the mirror for behind the door. I also put a pic of the floor plan... it obviously is in Kelsey language and all jumbled, but thats how i work, sorry:)
